OMC Saildrive water-pump problem

arthurjohnmorrow	I need help/advise about my OMC Saildrive engine..I think the waterpump is out..engine 20 years old..pump never replaced..In motoring from ramp to slip..engine overheat horn came on. I checked exhaust to see if water was coming out and it was but not strong. Also engine had a hollow sound to it. I am original owner...no marina around here will work on this engine. I will have to repair this myself. I am not a mechanic, but have a friend who is. Any help/advise would be appreciated...where do I obtain Repair Manual?? Thank you....	2002-06-23

Bill mac26	I just did this but I have to tell you by memory, can't look at my motor. Just above the lower unit is a joint. I think 4- 7/16 bolts hold this together. when you get it apart everything will be pretty obvious.	2002-08-26
LarryWP	I have a '81 Saildrive. Never had a water pump problem, but had to replace the engine gasket when it started leaking water into the cylinders. If you call OMC, they can probably send you a manual. I have an owner's manual, if you need the number. Email me. Good luck.	2002-08-27
