Prop problems

Carphunter I have recently purchased a 1981 Dynatrak by Ebbtide, with a 115 Johnson outboard (also a 1981). I have a 4-blade, 12.8" diameter, 17 pitch prop. I am only getting about 33 mph at top speed. I have been told by many local boat dealers that I should be making at least 45 at top speed. I was also told that a 3-blade,
13-1/4" diameter, 19 pitch prop, (stainless steel), was what I needed. I tried this prop and was only able to get about 25 mph at top speed. I believe the boat is extremely heavy. My tachometer is broken, so I am not sure how many rpm's that I am getting. The motor seems to be running great, and I can tell I am getting more rpm out of the 4-blade prop.
Thanks in advance for any help!
