OMC sail drive

paff813	I am looking to rebuild a OMC Sail Drive motor and outdrive on my 1976 San Juan. Has anyone evr had any luck finding parts for these motors? I heard they were hard to come by. Any response will be appreciated. mailto:[edited]	2002-11-24
derwoodjr	They are good dependible engines.. nothing I know of is bad about them.	2002-11-25
wezie	They were a ?? hp omc outboard engine detuned to about 15/18hp. You might find out which engine was used and might find one to replace the whole top end. A lot of homework will help decide whether to start this project or not. If you cannot get all of the parts, you do not need any. Don't know anything about the drive. When they were run they were ok, but when not, the carbs clogged up as any 2 cycle will do. If you have a chance, fix it so you can run the fuel out each and every time. Good Luck!	2003-02-02
G DANE	Hi Paff813. The motor is a slightly detuned 20 HP evin/jonsson from 1980 and up to 1988. Most parts are standard, besides from exhaust. Other parts will fit. What do you need ? Post in outboard - or do a search on saildrives on outboard forum.	2003-02-10
Dhadley	The one thing thats not available is the exhaust manifold deal. Thr motors were basically a 35 hp but there are differences in the years. Good luck!	2003-02-11
